MANILA, Philippines — Rains will continue to prevail in Mindanao and parts of Palawan and Visayas due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) while easterlies will bring hot weather in Luzon on Saturday, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that no low-pressure area or tropical cyclone is being monitored inside and outside the Philippine area of responsibility.

Luzon, except Palawan, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of rains due to easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.
“We will experience hot weather at noon and rains, thunder, and lightning are possible in the afternoon and evening due to the easterlies,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said in Filipino during the 5 a.m. weather forecast.

Meanwhile, Castañeda warned residents from Palawan, the western part of Visayas, and a huge portion of Mindanao of heavy rains due to the prevailing effects of ITCZ, or the convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres.
“Heavy rains are forecast in Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM [Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao], Soccsksargen [South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City], and parts of Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Palawan, and western Visayas,” Castañeda added.
Slight to moderate sea conditions are expected in seaboards across the country as no gale warning is raised by the Pagasa. /das
