MANILA, Philippines — No tropical cyclone is expected to develop or enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) for the rest of May, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In its 5 a.m. update, Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said that their current monitoring showed that no low-pressure area (LPA) or typhoon is seen in their satellite animation.
“And we don’t expect any typhoon to enter PAR until the end of May,” he further said.
However, Mindanao may continue to experience heavy rainfall due to the effect of the intertropical convergence zone.
Pagasa earlier announced that the rainy season is forecast to start in the early part of June.
