In its 5 a.m. forecast, Pagasa said the habagat may continue to bring rain to most parts of the country, especially in Luzon.

Meanwhile, the low-pressure area (LPA) being monitored has developed into a tropical cyclone but is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The tropical depression was last spotted 435 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 55 kilometers per hour. It is moving southwest at 20 kilometers per hour.

Pagasa is not ruling out the possibility that the LPA may reenter the PAR, potentially becoming the first typhoon of 2025. However, if it does, it is not expected to have any direct impact on any part of the country./mcm
