Ex-drug convict gunned down in Antipolo City

LUCENA CITY — A 30-year-old former drug convict in Antipolo City, Rizal was shot and killed Saturday night, June 7, police said.
The Police Regional Office 4A in a report on Sunday, June 8, identified the fatality as “Ron”, a resident of Barangay Cupang.
Police said Ron was aboard his motorcycle around 7 p.m. when the two assailants approached him and one of them shot him once on his chest using a handgun.
The killers, identified as “Jr” and “Dan-Dan”, both residents of Cupang, fled after the shooting. Rescuers rushed the victim to a hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
The police were conducting further investigations into the motive behind the killing and launched a manhunt to arrest the suspects.
The police said Ron was a former prisoner in Antipolo City for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, but did not state why and when he was freed.
