LPA inside PAR has ‘medium’ chance to become tropical depression

The low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau reported on Sunday morning.

MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau reported on Sunday morning.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the LPA was last spotted 285 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon.

“As of 8 a.m. today, June 8, a Low-Pressure Area (LPA) is being monitored inside the PAR and has a “MEDIUM” chance of development into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours,” Pagasa said in a short Facebook post.

Earlier, the state weather service said this LPA is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms to the Bicol, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas regions as well as in the provinces of Aurora and Quezon.

Aside from the LPA, the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat continues to bring rains in various parts of the country.
