PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur— More than 260 families were evacuated from six villages in Zamboanga City on Saturday due to floods spawned by southwest monsoon and low pressure area affecting the city.

As of 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, the local government of Zamboanga City reported of rescuing families from the villages of Cabatangan, Pasonanca, Ayala, Tumaga, Guiwan and Tugbungan.

The rescued families were sheltered in different Barangay Evacuation Centers while the City Social Welfare and Development Office immediately released relief assistance to the displaced families.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has been on blue alert since Friday due to the inclement weather./mr
