MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) and southwest monsoon, or habagat, will bring rain across the country on Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Pagasa said that the LPA was spotted 240 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes as of 3 a.m. The LPA mostly affects Central and Southern Luzon and the Visayas and Mindanao while the habagat prevails in the western part of the country.

Pagasa said that the LPA will result in rains in Aurora, Quezon, and the whole Bicol region. Meanwhile, the habagat will bring high chances of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening due to habagat.
“We will experience moderate to heavy rains in Metro Manila, and the rest of Central Luzon and Calabarzon [Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon], even in Mimaropa [Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan] due to habagat,” weather specialist Grace Castañeda said in Filipino in the agency’s 5 a.m. weather forecast.
For the rest of Northern Luzon, localized thunderstorms will bring chances of isolated thunderstorms.
