House spokesperson for 19th Congress appointed

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives has appointed lawyer Priscilla Marie Abante, the daughter of outgoing Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante, as the spokesperson for the 19th Congress, which ends on June 13.
During her first meeting with the House media, Abante said she was tapped by the House leadership and its communications team to “help deliver accurate, transparent, and truthful information for the House of Representatives.”

“We really don’t want fake news, so it’s important that we are able to communicate the policies being formulated in Congress right now,” she added. Abante was previously the spokesperson for outgoing Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, aside from being the head of the Manila Public Information Office. —Krixia Subingsubing
